Shampoo Warning! I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner! I use shampoo in the shower! When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning, "FOR EXTRA BODY AND VOLUME."
No wonder I have been gaining weight! Well! I got rid of that shampoo and I am going to start showering with Dawn Dishwashing Soap. It's label reads, "DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE."
Problem solved! If I don't answer the phone, I'll be in the shower!

There are more than five times as many vacant homes in the U.S. as there are homeless people, according to Amnesty International USA. Since 2007, banks have shuttered about 8 million American houses, almost doubling the previous number, while 3.5 million homeless shiver in the cold. Experts expect 8 million to 10 million more foreclosures in the years ahead. —ARK (Dec 31, 2011)

I'm in the process of writing an article for the 10 year disaster that is known as "anniversary of the war in Iraq" and a few things came to mind. I took a break and was looking around facebook at some photos of Iraqi, Afghan and Palestinian children throwing rocks at occupying soldiers. Let me explain why and HOW those photos promote a horrible idea.

1) People posting them from the safety of their computer clearly do not understand the danger of a child throwing a rock at an occupying soldier with a loaded weapon. ( Usually that's when the soldier either mistakes it for some type of explosive device and shoots the child or it gives the soldier a reason to shoot the child and everyone around them)

2) There are much more resilient and effective forms of resistance than praising children throwing rocks at soldiers. The promotion of this type of " resistance" results in the tragic murder of these children.

3) Encouraging children to throw rocks at occupying soldiers is not only irresponsible but completely idiotic. I am all for the will of the people to resist occupation but promoting the idea that children throwing rocks is somehow a "good idea" really shows how disconnected some people are from the reality of war/occupation.

I remember when children were throwing rocks at me and I remember the briefings prior to deployment. I remember being told insurgents will use children to attack US troops. ( Which they did. They paid a child one day to push a refrigerator full of explosives to a school and detonated it in front of the elementary school while the child was still pushing it.)

Just my thoughts on it as I write this article on Iraq. Not intended towards anyone what so ever.

Thoughts on the issue are encouraged.

Have a safe Saint Patricks day weekend!

right on... something not even discussed in the article is that war traumatises the generations who suffer it... and ptsd physically rewires the brain in unpleasant ways...
as such, families who have never had a problem with domestic violence, might now struggle with it, because many who suffer from ptsd have anger management problems (this counts for the women as much for the men and the children)

What's up with Google.> Google Earth Shows 'Arabian Gulf' / Persian Gulf. Google has a strange cartographic controversy on its hands. That's because Google arbitrarily, on its own, and for reasons unknown, names Persian Gulf, 'Arabian Gulf'. They can do that? No. And "Mother Jones" has sent Google a letter stating that the “Arabian Gulf” name is wrong. Several legal documents from the United Nations as well as the United States Board of Geographic Names confirm the legitimacy of the term, as do centuries of classical history, including a reference to the body of water by Greek geographer and astronomer Ptolemy as the Aquarius Persico. The Persian Gulf has been known and recognized as such for more than 2,500 years."

FEBRUARY 2013 - UNICEF report concludes that the ill-treatment of children who come in contact with the Israeli military detention system is widespread, systematic and institutionalized throughout the process, from the moment of arrest until the child’s prosecution and eventual conviction and sentencing.

For several years, national lawyers, human rights organizations, United Nations experts and treaty bodies have reported ill treatment of children who come in contact with the Israeli military detention system. Following an increasing number of allegations of ill-treatment of children , UNICEF conducted its review of practices related to children who come into contact with the military detention system, from apprehension, to court proceedings and outcome.

In no other country are children systematically tried by juvenile military courts that, by definition, fall short of providing the necessary guarantees to ensure respect for their rights. All children prosecuted for offences they allegedly committed should be treated in accordance with international juvenile justice standards, which provide them with special protection. Most of these protections are enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The paper concludes with 38 specific recommendations grouped under 14 broad headings designed to improve the protection of children in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international laws, norms and standards. All children in contact with judicial systems should be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

It has been a long time since we have had contact. As you might remember, our very first meeting was at VVAW’s Dewey Canyon III, “A Limited Incursion Into the Country of Congress,” April 19-23, 1971, in Washington, D.C. I’m sure you remember asking the Senate that week in an impassioned speech, “How...

Yeah, seems as though the VA has tossed out any source of triage and just does what they want .........

I'm at the point where I really want to support the troops who will RESISR these wars. We need to get the hell out of Afghanistan and all the other nations we occupy. The US was never meant to have a standing army.
