A BETRAYAL OF TRUST AND A POSSIBLE DEATH SENTENCE FOR TWO DOGS
Please READ and SHARE. YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED
Too many times lately I have had to come to our page and post things I do not like to share. But, in order to help save lives … I have to. So please bear with me one more time if you will and read the following… AND PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED MESSAGE FROM SILVIA KIM. I apologize in advance for being so long-winded. But this message needs to be told…
I have always believed rescue will only work for the animals so long as those of us who care work together and give it our best every single day. Many of you have heard me talk about A Shelter Friend Volunteer, Silvia Kim. She is the Bladen County Shelter animal’s best friend. She works very hard and she saves lives … every day. Every one of you on the EDR Page have heard her name if you have been here long. She is diligent, honest and she can be ferocious when it comes to these wonderful shelter animals that have stolen her over-sized heart.
I will not go into all the things Silvia does to give the shelter dogs and cats a chance to live. A lot of people have added Bladen County dogs and cats to their families because Silvia fought so hard. And I know when one of her precious Bully Shelter dogs gets a commitment, Silvia is on Cloud 9. Pit Bulls are very hard to place and we all know this. If we are not fighting against BSL, then we have to overcome the bias that too many people have against the breed. And rescues only have so much room. Once we are full, we have to place dogs before we can save more.
Recently there was a post on A Shelter Friend’s page about two Bull Dogs… Pat and Patty. It read:
“BONDED BULLDOGS Pat and and his best friend Patty were dropped off at the shelter when their human met with some problems and is now a guest of the state. Both are sweet and loving yet the will die Monday morning for Space 2-24. They love each other but we are unsure with other pets.”
So when I saw these two GORGEOUS Bull Dogs at Dr. Gensel’s the other day, of course I was thrilled. And of course Silvia was wearing a huge smile because these two wonderful dogs had a rescue commitment. They would not die in an over-crowded shelter as so many Pibbles do. And these two were going to get the royal treatment and be flown in style to their rescue. And they would be together... Anyone who works rescue day in and day out understands the pride and the wonderful feeling that goes with all of that. And it is not her ego she is feeding when she talks about it as some may think… It is sheer joy for the two dogs that she fell in love with the second she saw them. These dogs will get a chance… And they deserve that chance.
So when I talked with Silvia today … I know how hurt she is tonight. Please read her attached message and you will understand. The Rescue did not fall through. The Rescue Folks did not change their minds. THE RESCUE NEVER WAS!!!
When Silvia checked the Rescue at the start, it is a wonderful group and would have been a great place for Pat and Patty. However, even though the rescue does exist, the person who called does not work with this rescue and they had no clue anyone had done this. THEY DO NOT HAVE SPACE FOR PAT AND PATTY!!!
To the person who did this, I hope you are watching and reading: Perhaps you did it thinking you were saving the life of Pat and Patty and that was the only way you knew to do it. Or perhaps it was a cruel prank … but either way… You succeeded in breaking Silvia’s heart; not because you lied to her, but because you betrayed these dogs. In other circumstances you may have signed the dogs’ death warrant. As it is … you very possibly have cost two other dogs their lives because of your cruel prank. I do not know why you did it …but I do know you have no business anywhere in the rescue world. And eventually, you will be found out. SHAME ON YOU… I hope your night is as sleepless as Silvia’s will be as she worries about trying to find a spot for two others … hoping they will not die because there is no spot available for them. YOU DID THIS!!!
For the rest of you, PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE so Pat and Patty can get a rescue and not be stuck in boarding. The spots they are taking in boarding need to be available so two other dogs can have their chance to live as well. Boarding is necessary for a very short time before the dogs leave for rescue or homes. With those two spots indefinitely taken by Pat and Patty… two other dogs have nowhere to go and will die in a high kill shelter.
Further: These two had pledges that have been used for their vetting and boarding to this point … so there funds are totally gone. If you can donate to help keep these dogs in boarding a little longer, until they can hopefully go to a rescue… without your help there are no funds available to keep boarding. And without help, they will eventually have to be returned to the shelter where they WILL die. A Shelter Friend does not have the funds to keep boarding and still save others so this has put them in a terrible position. I do know this group and they will do everything they can to keep these two alive. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP THEM IF YOU CAN!!! And I will add to Silvia’s Message … if anyone of you have an idea about the person who did this, please let us know so she is not able to do this to another dog.

FROM SILVIA KIM:
“PLEASE READ!!! STUCK IN BOARDING!
HELP NEEDED TO FIX A HORRIBLE WRONG
The rescue world is based on trust. Trust, it's a matter of life and death for the animals on death row and the survival of rescues that are desperately trying to save them. when that trust is violated It can mean the death of a dog that we have already celebrated they're freedom from impending euthanasia.
This is the story of two such dogs.
Pat and Patty abandoned pair of bulldogs were scheduled to die in a over crowded kill shelter the next morning, when a miracle happened. The phone rang with a rescue offer not only saving the pair but keeping them together in a wonderful rescue. We trusted that the person Angela was in representative of this rescue and subsequently pulled the pair for them and placed them in boarding. Then waited patiently while this representative worked on transport arrangements. We were communicating with her a couple of times letting us know that things were moving along. When we attempted to call back this Angela. , her phone was a magic jack phone and the number and does not take messages. We attempted to call the rescue and they have never heard of this person. Now we have two sweet lovable bulldogs with no place to go, stuck in boarding. and all pledge money has run out. this is so horribly wrong
This person has not helped the dogs. She has left them stuck in boarding with no place to go, no foster, no rescue. IN LIMBO.
Other dogs will die because of this betrayal. We do not have the funds to keep them in boarding. indefinitely and will be forced to return them to the shelter where they had escaped a unthinkable fate . We are now going to be very
slow t trust the next person who calls from an area that we do not normally have transports , Fearful that we have another dog in limbo. Perhaps she thought that she was helping these dogs. When we get a call only hours before a dog is killed we go on trust because we sure NEVER want a dog with a place to go die. Shame on you Angela.
We ask your help to get a rescue for Pat and Patty
as soon as possible and donations to keep them safely at the vet while begging for a spot. It is $750 a month $25 a day or return them to the shelter to die. WHAT A HORRIBLE option.
